Performing Arts
It is hard to believe that this is the final Performing Arts report for 2023. We are certainly proud of our student musicians who have given many hours of rehearsal and performances to bring joy to our College community.
Prep Nativity
Last week, our Prep students presented the Nativity story in music and drama. The message was clear, and the students certainly enjoyed themselves. They were well supported by Vivace (tuned percussion ensemble) who accompanied the performance. Seraphim Choir also led worship (with Mr Clarke) prior to the Nativity presentation and performed a Christmas Glory Hallelujah!
Year 6 Graduation
Year 6 Graduation included memories of productions, learning instruments and musical performances over the years. At the ceremony, Year 6 members of the Junior Vocal Ensemble presented the song Just Believe and a few tears from parents were evident.
Junior School Final Assembly
The Junior School Final Assembly also featured inspirational musical performances from the Junior School Orchestra, the Junior Vocal Ensemble and the combined voices of the Cherubim and Seraphim Choirs. The Junior Orchestra also accompanied some carol singing and the National Anthem. The Junior Vocal Ensemble’s rendition of You Say was especially poignant, featuring Year 6 soloists. The combined choir’s motivational songs Everybody Has A Light To Shine and We’ll Rise Above provided a fitting climax to the year’s celebration.
A Junior School String Quartet also provided music for a special Thank You Morning Tea to show appreciation to our parent volunteers.
Presentation Evening
The climax for the Senior School calendar is Senior Presentation Evening and our musicians, who have been rehearsing for this event for some time, excelled. The Senior Choir, accompanied by music staff, soared in a choral interpretation of Psalm 8. Sinfonia and Senior Concert Band combined for a masterful performance of Nostalgia. The Senior Vocal Ensemble always provide a highlight, and both their performances of Run To You and Light of the World (accompanied by Camerata and Cantabile) were sublime. Highlights from the Middle Years Production of Aladdin JR. were well received and performed with much energy and skill. Prelude music was also enjoyed prior to the event commencing, presented by Middle Years Vocal Ensemble, Sforzando, Cantabile and Camerata.
Thank you to all our musicians, parents, teachers, instructors, ensemble directors and supporters. Enjoy celebrating the wonder of Christmas, the holidays to follow, and we will be ready to welcome you back in 2024 for another year of exciting performances! God bless!
