Cassia 1 & 2 News

PEP HUNGERFORD, LETETIA POLYCHRONOPOULOS &SOPHIE NUGENT

The end of the year has come so quickly!  As such we are preparing to farewell many of our older Cassia children as they make the exciting transition to Class 1.  Part of the Cassia tradition is to make the craft bag that will accompany them into the Primary School.

This year we decided to try natural dying of the fabric with red onions and then a hammering technique to print leaves and flowers from our garden onto the fabric.  How wonderful it was when we pulled our fabric out of the purple onion dye and saw that it had surprisingly turned a lovely shade of green!  More shouts of wonder rang through the room as we tucked leaves and flowers in between our fabric layers and began to hammer………magic began to happen.  The children were delighted with the results and we are sure that these bags will be filled over the years with all sorts of wonderful work.

Warmly

Pep
