Principal's Report

DINA FIECK

Dear Parents and Carers,

As my time here at The Alice Springs Steiner School draws to a close, it is time for me to say farewell. I have truly enjoyed every minute of my years in this school and in Mparntwe, Alice Springs. Ours is a warm, open-hearted community that welcomes everyone with generosity and kindness, and it has been a privilege to be part of it.

Thank you for all the support, care, and trust you have shown over the last six years. While I am very sad to leave, I know that now is the right time. Together, we have built a strong and vibrant learning community where children, families, and teachers can connect, grow, and thrive.

I have loved working with all the children — they are so down-to-earth, real, and full of character, as only Alice Springs children can be. And of course, Maru, our school dog during the last 6 years, has adored every bit of the attention he has received from them. He will be at school tomorrow night, and I look forward to seeing you all at the festival.

With warmth and gratitude,

Dina

Dear Alice Springs Steiner School Community,

As you would all be aware, we will be farewelling Dina Fieck at the end of this year following six years of very successful leadership of our School. The Governing Body is pleased to share an update on the school’s plans for the principal role next year.

We are delighted to announce that Pep Hungerford has been appointed Interim Principal. Prior to her role teaching Cassia, Pep has had extensive leadership experience as Head of School at Cairns Hinterland Steiner School, Principal/Director of Samford Valley Steiner School, and Interim Principal of Birali Steiner School. Pep’s knowledge of our School, students and culture will support a steady transition, and we encourage you to offer her your full support in this role.

The recruitment process has also highlighted leadership potential within our staff, as Pep will work closely with Megan Hatton to develop her leadership capabilities further. This direction positions the school for a positive and connected future, with an emphasis on continuity and leadership development within our school community.

Regards,

David Sweeney
