Dear families,
School Disco – Tonight!
Tonight is one of the most anticipated events on our school calendar, the Willy Primary School Disco! We are looking forward to a fantastic evening of music, dancing and plenty of fun for our Willy Kids.
A reminder of tonight's session times:
We remind all families that students must be dropped off and collected by a supervising adult. For student safety, no child will be dismissed from the disco without a staff member visually sighting the adult responsible for collecting them. We appreciate everyone's cooperation in ensuring a safe and enjoyable evening for all students.
2026 Art Show – Don't Miss Our Friday Night Celebration!
The excitement is building as we prepare for one of the biggest events on our school calendar, the 2026 Williamstown Primary School Art Show!
Our Art Show is a wonderful celebration of the creativity, imagination and artistic talents of our Willy Kids, with every student having the opportunity to showcase their work.
We are particularly looking forward to our Adults-Only Art Show Cocktail Night on Friday 23 October. This promises to be a fantastic evening for our school community, featuring delicious catering by Zan Zans, live music celebrating Aussie favourites, dancing, and the opportunity to explore the incredible student artwork on display.
At just $40 per ticket, the evening represents fantastic value while supporting one of our school's major fundraising events. Funds raised will go directly towards purchasing resources that enhance learning opportunities for our students.
We encourage families to organise their tickets now and join us for what promises to be a memorable evening. Tickets are available through CompassTix.
Our Class Art Piece Auction will also open on Monday 19 October, featuring 18 unique collaborative artworks, one from each class. These pieces will be available to view in the school library, and we encourage families to take a look and consider placing a bid.

The Art Show will also be open to the school and wider community on Sunday 25 October, with a gold coin donation on entry.
2027 Class Placement Process
This week, families received communication outlining the school's class placement process for 2027.
As we begin planning for next year, our teaching teams will undertake a thorough and considered process to develop balanced classes that support the learning, wellbeing and social development of every student.
This process takes into account a broad range of factors, including academic needs, social connections, student wellbeing and the overall balance of each classroom.
As outlined in our communication, the school will not be accepting individual parent requests for specific student placements, friendship groupings or teacher allocations.
Students will have the opportunity to nominate five learning friends they would like to be placed with next year. These nominations form part of the broader placement process, with the aim of ensuring students have familiar and supportive peer connections.
We understand that families naturally have preferences for their children. However, it is important that our teaching teams are able to make informed and balanced decisions based on their professional knowledge of students and the needs of the entire year level.
We appreciate the trust and support of our families as we work towards creating positive and successful learning environments for 2027.
Welcoming Our 2027 Prep Families
It was wonderful to welcome our newest Willy Primary families to the school this week for our 2027 Prep Parent Information Night.
The evening provided an opportunity to introduce families to our school community, share important information about the transition to primary school and outline what makes being a Willy Kid so special.
Starting school is a significant milestone for both children and their families, and we recognise the importance of ensuring everyone feels welcomed, connected and confident as they begin this exciting journey.
Next week, our 2027 Prep students will begin their transition program with their first Story Time session. This will be the first opportunity for many of our newest Willy Kids to experience our school environment, meet staff and begin building friendships with their future classmates. Our 2027 Prep team consists of Caitlin Sullivan, Georgia Granger, Emma Chang, Bianca Italiano and Bianca Russo.
We are looking forward to welcoming our newest students and supporting them as they take their first steps towards becoming Willy Kids in 2027.
Warm regards,
Mat Montebello
