Reflection for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Year C
The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Year C celebrates the deep and unending love of Jesus for all people. The readings remind us of His care, His sacrifice, and His desire to seek and save those who are lost. Each reflection offers a way to understand His love and how we can respond to it in our own lives.
God Cares for His People
The first reading for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Year C reminds us that God is like a shepherd. A shepherd knows his sheep, watches over them, and protects them from harm. He searches for the lost and brings them back to the fold. This image helps us understand how much God cares for each one of us. He doesn’t leave us alone when we are struggling or lost. Instead, He goes looking for us and brings us back to Him with kindness and love. God’s care is personal and gentle. Just as a shepherd knows the needs of each sheep, God knows what we need. He gives us the guidance, comfort, and support we need to live well. This reading reminds us that God is always with us, even when we don’t realize it. We can trust that He is leading us on the right path, even when life feels uncertain or difficult.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for loving us and never giving up on us.
Help us trust You when we feel lost or alone.
Teach us to follow Your example of care and sacrifice for others.
Fill our hearts with kindness and guide us to share Your love with the world.
Amen.
Important Information from NSW Police
The Terrorism Protections Unit of the New South Wales Police Force as part of its on-going guidance in the event of a terrorism attack, has released additional resources which we share with our Parishes. While the chance of our Parish being caught up in a hostile act remain low, it remains important to be vigilant and aware of these guidelines.
Flyers are available in the Church Foyer to take home.
A reminder also to be wary of scam emails, text messages and phone calls.
Announcement
The Canonization of Blessed Carlo Acutis and the Canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be on 7 September. The canonizations of the two young saints—one from the early twentieth century, the other the first twenty-first-century saint—have been greatly anticipated due to the great devotion among the faithful. Pope Leo made the choice to enrol among the number of the saints two young men from different eras who led completely different lives, but who are nonetheless united in their love for Christ and their ability to impart that love to those whose lives they touched.
Prayer cards, Novenas and mini posters are available in the Church foyer.
Holy Father's Appeal
The next parish appeal will be the annual Holy Father’s Appeal held across the weekend 5th & 6th July. This appeal, also known as Peter’s Pence, is a gesture of solidarity with the universal Church to support the works of the Holy Father Pope Leo.
Working with Children Week 23rd – 29th June
We celebrate Working with Children Week in recognition of over 1.9 million people who contribute to the lives of the state’s children. The theme for this is “Partners in keeping children safe”. The Safeguarding Office would like to thank everyone for all that they do every day to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children within the Archdiocese of Sydney. Working with Children Week is a chance to celebrate those all those who put children first. The Safeguarding Office is committed to providing safe environments for our children by maintaining an open and inclusive culture. We take this opportunity to especially thank our Parish Safeguarding Support Officers, Dianne Dawson and Helen Williamson who volunteer a tremendous amount of time to assist our parish community with training and compliance.
