Updated Child Safety Information at St Joseph's College
At St Joseph's College, the safety and wellbeing of every student is our highest priority.
The Victorian Department of Education has recently updated its PROTECT child safety guidance, which supports all Victorian schools to identify and respond to concerns about child safety and wellbeing. As part of these updates, students will notice new child safety posters displayed around the College.
These posters are designed to remind students that there are many trusted adults they can speak to if they are worried about themselves or someone else. They include examples of staff members students can approach, while reinforcing that students are welcome to speak with any trusted staff member they feel comfortable with.
The updated resources also provide clearer guidance for staff on how to identify, respond to and report child safety concerns. While the resources have been refreshed, staff reporting obligations have not changed and all schools continue to follow the Victorian Child Safe Standards and mandatory reporting requirements.
These updates are another way we are continuing to strengthen our commitment to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels heard, respected and protected.
