Year 10 Proactive Programs

At the end of Term 2, our Year 10 students had the opportunity to hear from a representative of the Pat Cronin Foundation, who delivered a powerful and thought-provoking presentation focused on social awareness, anti-violence and the importance of positive decision-making.

The Foundation was established following the tragic death of 19-year-old Pat Cronin in 2016, after he was struck by a single coward punch while attempting to help a friend during an altercation. Determined to create a positive legacy from an unimaginable loss, Pat’s family founded the organisation to educate young people about the consequences of violence and the role that respect, kindness and empathy play in building safer communities.

Throughout the session, students were encouraged to consider how seemingly small decisions can have lifelong consequences. The presentation also highlighted the importance of being an upstander rather than a bystander, and how stepping in safely, seeking help or supporting others can make a significant difference in preventing harm.

 The session provided valuable insights and practical strategies for navigating challenging social situations, leaving students with important messages that will remain relevant well beyond their school years.
