Year 9 City Experience

City Experience #2

They year 9 students had another great city experience at the end of term 2 where they were challenged to navigate and understand the cultural and historical significance of various iconic Melbourne landmarks around the Southbank and Yarra River. Students were actively working on developing real-world navigation skills and practicing independence and interpersonal skills as they explored, photographed, and interacted with art installations, museums, parks, bridges and precincts. The year 9’s were very respectful of the First Nations city installations and key pieces of Melbourne’s immigration history. These skills will be transferred and built on in future city experience challenges as they grow more independent and confident in the city landscape. Well done year 9!

City Experience #3

As part of the Year 9 Program, students recently embarked on the third in a series of City Experiences. While working on their problem solving, navigation and collaboration skills, students worked in groups to safely move from check point to check point in Melbourne’s CBD. Each group was responsible for guiding their allocated “Bishop” (chosen staff member) to each location using the Public Transport Victoria network. At each location, students completed a task table and took photos as evidence of their visit. Students were able to plan their routes, manage their time effectively and enjoy some of Melbourne’s sites.

Well done Year 9 students!
