What’s happening in… Year 3 Maths!

This week, our Year 3 students are learning about multiplying two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. They are using hands-on materials to develop a deeper understanding of how multiplication works and to make connections between repeated addition and multiplication. Students are also applying their knowledge of place value to understand how to regroup when multiplying.

Students are building their understanding by representing multiplication problems using MAB blocks before applying their strategies to written problems. Alongside this, they are developing their times-table fluency, with regular practice helping them become faster, more accurate and confident in recalling multiplication facts.
