Welcome to Mr Milton!

You may have noticed a new face in the 1/2A classroom. Mr Jack Milton is with us from ACU doing his final year teaching placement. We are so excited to have him learning from us for this last week of Term 1, and for the first six weeks of Term 2! If you see Mr Milton in the mornings, make sure you say hello 😊

Literacy - Revising Sentences

In Writing this term, we have been working on expanding sentences with extra details. We have been practicing our sentence writing, and this week we moved on to learning how to revise our sentences so they make sense and have enough detail. Take a look at our works in progress!

Numeracy - Number lines and counting

In maths this week, we have been working on the concept of "part-part-whole" and being able to recognise that a whole number can be made up of different parts. We had a go at building a number line to 120 and using it to play 'Race to 120'. We had lots of fun, and I think there might have been some learning in there somewhere...

Premiers' Reading Challenge 2026

This year, 1/2A will be participating in the annual Premiers' Reading Challenge. Our class challenge is to read 30 books from the 'Challenge' list of texts by the end of Term 3! I think we are up to the task! We'll keep you updated in the newsletter about how we are going towards achieving our reading goal.

Home Reading Program

Our home reading program has started for those who wished to opt into having hard-copy practice books sent home. Everyone has been sent a letter with a QR code attached so students can access their decodable reading books from home on a device. These are the same books we use in the classroom, so they are an incredibly valuable resource to use for practising reading using all the new sounds we are learning!

Parent Teacher interviews

Parent Teacher interviews for 1/2A have been scheduled this week. However, if you have been unable to make an appointment at a time that works for you, I will be offering additional times in the first week of Term 2. Please reach out if you would like to secure one of these spots on Wednesday or Thursday afternoon in Week 1 of Term 2!
