Year 1 Spotlight

A Fantastic Start!

This year, our Grade 1 students have been learning important procedures and routines to help set them up for success both in and outside the classroom. From day one, students learnt about their new line-up spots and how to enter the classroom. They have continued to follow these procedures beautifully ever since—well done, Grade 1s!

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been revising sounds using the Little Learners Love Literacy platform, starting reading groups, and learning about recounts. We are now exploring narratives and beginning to write our own stories.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, we have been focusing on place value for numbers up to 120. Students have been learning about partitioning and renaming numbers, and we are now beginning a unit on collecting and recording data.

Inquiry

In Inquiry this term, we have been exploring History, with a focus on personal histories. Students learnt about what school and everyday life might have been like in the past. They are now creating a special Personal History Box filled with meaningful artefacts from their own lives.

It has been a fantastic start to Grade 1, and we are very excited for everything that the year has in store!
