Everyone Belongs

Harmony Day – Friday 20 March
Fairfield Primary School will be celebrating Harmony Day on Friday 20 March. The message of Harmony Day is 'everyone belongs'.
Harmony Day is a part of Harmony Week (16 – 22 March), and is a celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity and multiculturalism. It’s about inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone – from the Traditional Owners of the land to recent arrivals.
How will we celebrate Harmony Day?
Students are encouraged to wear orange, the official colour of Harmony Week. Orange signifies social communication, meaningful conversations, freedom of ideas, and mutual respect.
On Harmony Day, Year 6 students will host lunchtime activities for students across the school. They are working with Laurence (our French teacher) to organise a range of inclusive, multi-age activities – including a disco, making friendship bracelets, identifying countries and flags, international flags scavenger hunt, obstacle course, basketball and footy activities, and playing interactive games with a parachute.
In addition, a school fundraiser will take place on Harmony Day with all donations going towards Foodbank Victoria. Foodbank Victoria helps feed people in need. It is a not-for-profit organisation providing food and grocery relief to front-line charities and school breakfast programs. Foodbank feeds 69,000 Victorians every single day.
We encourage students to bring along a gold coin donation on Friday 20 March to support this wonderful organisation.
See you in orange!
