School Council Report

February School Council Meeting
Our first School Council meeting for the year was held on Monday, 23 February. It was lovely to reconnect after the summer break and start planning for another busy and exciting year ahead.
Paul shared the school’s Annual Implementation Plan (AIP), which highlights key improvement strategies and priorities for the year. This year, the focus is on strengthening student wellbeing, alongside continuing to build strong outcomes in numeracy and literacy. Families who want to explore the AIP in more detail can find it on the Policies and plans page of the FPS website.
Council also discussed a community petition advocating for a pedestrian crossing between our two campuses. This is an important safety consideration for students and families, and we will keep everyone updated as this progresses.
We looked over the upcoming calendar of events, which promises plenty of opportunities for our school community to come together. Keep an eye out for ways to get involved and support these events throughout the year. There was also some exciting discussion around new fundraising ideas, with some creative initiatives currently in the works. We can’t wait to share more details soon!
A number of policies were reviewed and noted at council including including:
Some School Councillors will be reaching the end of their term at the end of March, and we look forward to welcoming new members. Serving on the School Council is such a rewarding way to help shape the direction and future of our school.
The next School Council meeting will be on Monday, 30 March, starting with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) from 6 – 6.30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the AGM.
On behalf of the School Council, I hope everyone has had a fantastic start to 2026. Here’s to another exciting and successful year at FPS!
