Music Lessons
Dear parents/carers,
School Council is excited to announce that from Term 4, Fitzroy Primary School is expanding its extra-curriculur music program! We are thrilled to offer three dedicated music teachers providing a wide range of individual and group lessons across different instruments, voice and performance!
Why music?
Neuroscience shows that learning music actively strengthens a child’s developing brain by building crucial neural pathways. This cognitive boost enhances memory, focus, and spatial reasoning, which directly translates to stronger academic outcomes in literacy, language, and numeracy. As renowned Australian neuromusical educator Dr. Anita Collins notes, learning music during the primary years actively supports the neural foundations for all learning, giving students a lasting advantage in both their academic performance and overall well-being.

Frederic Mosson (French Music School)
Fred has been teaching at Fitzroy Primary School for many years and teaches in both French and English.
- Offering: individual or small group piano (all levels), vocal coaching, guitar (beginner), ukelele (ukelele), drum rhythm, harmony and music theory.

Alex is a teacher, multi-instrumentalist, and is currently training to be a music therapist.
- Offering: individual and group lessons in drum kit (all levels), guitar (all levels), piano and keyboard (all levels) and songwring.

Hailing from Durban, South Africa, Percy is a music educator, pianist, performer and published children's author. He performs regularly in Makepisi, a Melbourne-based 5-piece South African a cappella group singing contemporary and traditional songs.
