Principal`s Message
As we welcome the first days of spring, there is a renewed sense of energy and optimism across our school community. Despite our resident Noisy Miner enthusiastically swooping all and sundry as they enter through the front gate, the changing season reminds us of the growth, learning and new opportunities that education brings. Schools are places of constant activity, and the past two weeks have certainly reflected that. With excursions, incursions, sporting events and special celebrations filling our calendar, students and staff have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity and positivity.
Book Week
One of the highlights of the fortnight was our wonderful Book Week Parade. This year's theme, "The Symphony of Stories," provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the power of books and storytelling. It was fantastic to see students and staff come dressed as their favourite literary characters, bringing stories to life through creativity and imagination.
Events such as Book Week remind us of the critical importance of early literacy. Developing a love of reading from a young age opens doors to learning, builds confidence and lays the foundation for future success across all areas of learning.
Interschool Sport
Our students have also been busy representing the school in a range of interschool sporting opportunities. Students from Years 3 to 6 participated in District Athletics, Basketball and Netball competitions, demonstrating determination, teamwork and school pride. We were also pleased to have our Year 3/4 students involved in the Road to Respect Program through the Carlton Football Club, which supports students to build respectful relationships, resilience and positive decision-making skills. Across all of these events, our students consistently demonstrated excellent sporting behaviour, respect for others and positive attitudes. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented themselves and our school community.
Napier Street
I am also delighted to share that we have finally received our Occupancy Certificate for the Napier Street building. This is a significant milestone in what has been a very large and complex project. I am currently busy organising the final details, including coordinating furniture deliveries, relocating resources and equipment from George Street, and ensuring all services and connections are fully operational across both sites. Our goal is to have students learning in the new environment as soon as possible while ensuring everything is ready for a smooth transition.
It has been a massive undertaking, and we look forward to sharing the building with students, families and the wider community in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we ask for just a little more patience as these final preparations are completed. After a long journey, we are almost there, and we are excited for everyone to enjoy a little more space and the wonderful opportunities that our new learning environment will provide.
Student pick up
To help keep all students safe at dismissal time, the back gate will open at 3.25 pm each afternoon. We appreciate families waiting until this time before entering the school grounds and thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring a safe and smooth end to the school day.
