What a wonderful and creative term we have had in the Art Room!

We had a fantastic Art Incursion with Room 1 getting creative with everyday objects to build their own sculptures. Students transformed ordinary items into imaginative creations, which were then spray painted to give their sculptures a colourful new look. It was amazing to see what could be made from things that might normally end up in the recycling bin. Room 2 explored textiles and created beautiful pictures using fabric and other materials to make colourful flowers. It was wonderful to see students experimenting with texture, shape and colour to create their own unique designs.

We also had lots of fun creating 3D giant fish. Students designed and decorated large paper fish before stuffing them and bringing them to life. The finished fish will be displayed together as a fantastic hanging mobile, creating a colourful underwater-inspired display.

To finish off the term, Room 1 took on the challenge of learning to knit. There were some tangled threads, lots of concentration and plenty of, “I think I’ve lost a stitch!” moments. 🧶 It was fantastic to see students persevering and having a go at something new. Even better, some students enjoyed knitting so much that they continued working on it after the lesson had finished.

Meanwhile, Room 2 explored weaving using cardboard looms. Students learned how to weave yarn over and under the warp threads, creating colourful and textured pieces. There was lots of concentration as students experimented with different colours and patterns.
