Koonung Robotics Success at VEX Competition

Our Koonung Senior VEX V5 Robotics teams recently competed in a VEX Robotics Competition, with Team A achieving an outstanding result by being crowned Tournament Champions.

The team’s success followed weeks of designing, building, programming, testing and refining their robot. Their robot design also received high praise from many people at the competition, reflecting the quality of the students’ engineering, teamwork and problem-solving.

Our Senior VEX V5 Team B also represented the school very well, demonstrating persistence, collaboration and strong technical skills throughout the event.

Our Junior VEX IQ team also performed strongly, gaining valuable competition experience and showing great enthusiasm, teamwork and problem-solving.

It was wonderful to see all of our Robotics students proudly representing Koonung. Congratulations to Team A on their Tournament Championship, and well done to all!

Year 12 Food Studies - Design challenge 

Year 12 students have been exploring how to assess the validity and credibility of food and nutrition information. They investigated weight-loss and nutrition companies, examining how to distinguish reliable information from unethical practices and commercially driven claims.

As part of this learning, students designed a nutritious dinner that would appeal to children while aligning with the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating. They then considered how a vegetable supplement powder, marketed to increase the nutrient content of meals for picky eaters, could be incorporated.

Students concluded that it is possible to create healthy, well-balanced meals using everyday foods, without the need for expensive vegetable supplements.
