Our Year 2 students had an unforgettable excursion to Optus Stadium, where they enjoyed an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of one of Western Australia’s most iconic sporting venues. The day was filled with excitement as students explored areas that are not usually seen by the public when visiting the stadium.

One of the highlights of the tour was visiting the Fremantle Dockers and West Coast Eagles changerooms. Students were thrilled to sit where their favourite players prepare for games and see all the names and numbers on the lockers. They ran around the area where the players warm up and sing their team song when they win.

The adventure continued as students travelled to the top floor of Optus Stadium, where they overlooked the whole oval. They also explored the commentators’ and media boxes, discovering how games are broadcasted live and how commentators share the excitement with fans at home. Inside the team meeting rooms, students learned about how the meetings usually take place and what inspiring things the coaches say to the players before games.

A highlight of the journey was walking across Matagarup Bridge and spotting the colourful jellyfish artwork. To finish the day, students enjoyed some time to play and relax at Chevron Parkland. Students had an awesome time consolidating their learning in HASS by visiting the historical site, reflecting on what they already knew and learnt many new exciting facts about Optus Stadium.
