PATHWAYS REPORT

Over the past fortnight, we’ve taken all our Year 9 Pathways classes out to SuniTAFE to have a look at the VET courses on offer for 2027 through the Murray Mallee VET Cluster.
While we were there, students got to see a range of different areas across the TAFE, including allied health, automotive, engineering and electrotechnology, and learn a bit more about what each certificate involves.
A real highlight of the visit was seeing seven former MacKillop students out at SuniTAFE, now attending trade school as part of their full‑time apprenticeships. They spoke to our students about the VET courses they completed while they were at St Mary MacKillop College. Some of the students did VET Sport and Recreation or VET Building and Construction in Year 10, or did a school based apprenticeship before leaving school to go into full time employment, which was great for our Year 9's to hear.
Coming up, all our Year 9 students will be attending the Murray Mallee VET Cluster Expo on Wednesday 20 May at the Grain Shed. This will tie in nicely with our subject selection process, as students will soon begin choosing their 2027 electives following our Subject Expo on Wednesday 27 May.
