It has been pleasing to see such a positive and settled start to Term 2. While walking around the school I have noticed productive classes and students engaged in their learning. Despite being back from the holiday period for only three weeks, there has been no shortage of events that have occupied our College calendar at the start of the new term. Our students continue to enjoy a range of experiences both within and outside of the classroom. I would like to acknowledge our staff who continue to work hard to organise and deliver these learning experiences for our students. Recent events include:
Thank you to the families who supported last Wednesday’s Year 7 to 10 Parent/Teacher/Student interviews. These interviews are an important part of our assessment and reporting process, and are vital in acknowledging student achievement so far this year, and identifying actions and setting goals for the future. After receiving feedback on their progress during the interviews, I hope our students will continue to approach their learning with a positive mind set. We firmly believe that strong relationships between home and school are the foundation of student success, and this has a positive impact on student learning. We value the time families made to discuss their child’s progress during the interviews.
Since the beginning of the year, I have been fortunate to be involved in a professional learning program focusing on Catholic school governance. The program concluded this week and it has been an enriching learning experience for me. In one of the sessions a presenter talked about leading with kindness. In a time marked by global conflict, the call to kindness is very important. I am incredibly grateful for the kindness members of our community show each day at our wonderful school, and see it as a visible sign of God’s love alive in our community. As we pray for peace in the world, may we also be individuals who foster kindness through our words, actions and care for one another.
Wishing everyone a blessed and productive fortnight ahead. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our school.
