Senior School Update

With Mr John Thompson
The action never stops in the Senior School, with some big events taking place over the past few weeks, and some more to come.
Looking back to last Friday, nearly 100 party goers had a fantastic evening at our Senior School Formal. A massive thanks to all the staff who volunteered their time and efforts to support a great evening for our students. Speaking of large crowds at the Cobram Italian Social Club, our recent 2027 Senior School Information Dinner was a huge success, with prospective Senior School families learning more about what makes our school great. Hot on the heels of the dinner was the second of our Year 7, 2027 Taster Days, where over 60 students engaged in a 'day in the life' of a Year 7 student.
Today (4 June) we held a casual clothes day and fundraiser to support our sister school All Saints Samoa and the service learning excursion for Year 10 students Callum Lincoln and Lucy Hemming.
On the horizon is a number of key events as well. Wednesday 10 June is a big day for Year 10 students and families, with the 2027 VCE Pathways Day taking place during the day and subject expo for families in the evening. The first of the external VCE exams, the General Achievement Test (GAT), takes place at school on Tuesday 16 June for all students studying a Unit 3/4 subject. Finally, our Winter Appeal in the second last week of term, and the accompanying Year 12 Winter Sleepout, will be a social cause for the entire school to rally around.
Senior School Formal
Close to 100 Senior School students and guests enjoyed a memorable evening at the bi-annual Senior School Formal, held at the Cobram Italian Social Club on Friday 29 May.
The event provided students with an opportunity to come together, celebrate the year so far and create lasting memories with their peers. With plenty of laughter, great dancing and a lively atmosphere throughout the evening, it was a wonderful occasion for all who attended. The glitz and glamour were certainly on display, with students embracing the opportunity to dress up and enjoy a special night out. A sincere thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the Formal, particularly our Year 12 students and staff, who took on the responsibility of planning and delivering the event.
Year 7 Taster Day - Take Two
Our second Year 7 Taster Day was a wonderful occasion, bringing together 60 students from Cobram AGS and other local primary schools for an inspiring glimpse into secondary school life.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to explore a diverse range of subject areas — from Drones and Art to Music, Foods and Humanities — experiencing the kind of engaging learning environment that defines the Cobram AGS secondary experience. Just as importantly, students had the chance to forge new connections, build friendships, and get a genuine feel for our school community.
It was a joy to see so many young people embrace the day with enthusiasm and curiosity, and we look forward to welcoming many of them through our doors as future Cobram AGS students. A massive thank you to our VCE VM and Drone students for cooking the BBQ lunch and assisting the Taster crew.
Enrolment spaces for Year 7 2027 remain available, though places are filling quickly. Families interested in joining our community are encouraged to reach out soon.

Year 10 Project Ready Students Connect with the Community
Last Wednesday, Year 10 Project Ready students stepped outside the classroom for a day of community exploration, visiting three organisations that play a vital role in the Cobram area — the SES Cobram Unit, Cobram Community House, and Cobram Library.
The visits gave students a firsthand look at the people and services that keep our community running, while also providing a meaningful opportunity to build connections beyond the school gates. The group paused mid-morning to recharge with a well-earned morning tea from Hungie Fangs, enjoyed in the sunshine at Mivo Park. And in true Project Ready spirit, students finished the afternoon with a burst of energy on the dance floor, rounding out the day with a few lively rounds of Just Dance!
Experiences and field trips like these sit at the heart of the Project Ready program, helping students develop the personal, social and workplace skills they'll carry with them long after they leave school — all while deepening their connection to the community they're a part of.
