Samoa Fundraiser a Great Success
Today (4 June) was about much more than an out of uniform day — it was a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together in support of a very worthy cause.
Year 10 students Callum Lincoln and Lucy Hemming have shown outstanding leadership in organising our fundraising efforts on behalf of All Saints Samoa, our sister school. With a service learning trip to Samoa just weeks away, the pair were determined to make a meaningful contribution before they depart.
Their efforts included a can drive — made possible with the generous assistance of Mr Thompson — which raised approximately $130, as well as a popular coin toss game that had students lining up for a chance to win chocolates with a $1 entry!
We extend our sincere thanks to every student, staff member and family who donated a gold coin on the day. Your generosity will make a real difference to the students and community at All Saints Samoa.
A full fundraising total will be announced next week — watch this space!
Senior Quartet Represent CAGS at National Sorry Day Commemoration
Four of our students (and Mr Willett) had the privilege of attending the National Sorry Day Commemoration in Shepparton on 26 May, joining community members to mark this significant occasion in the Australian calendar.
Jet Munro, Peter Everingham, Kaden Anderson, and Hameesha Fernando represented our school at the event, with Hameesha and Jet both stepping up to deliver readings during the service — doing so with impressive confidence and composure.
National Sorry Day, observed each year on 26 May, is a time for all Australians to reflect on and acknowledge the profound impact of past government policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly those who form part of the Stolen Generations. It is a day of remembrance, respect, and renewed commitment to reconciliation.
