English

Both Year 7 and 8 students have been studying poetry this term, with Year 7 analysing poetic form and techniques in the description of people, and Year 8 studying Romanticism and the poetry of place.
Both year levels will undertake a written exam for their assessment task, analysing unfamiliar poems under timed conditions. Examinations are always a difficult experience and often lead to disappointment for students. It is important that students react to these disappointments with increased determination and seek feedback from their teachers to clarify areas for improvement.
Over the years, multiple educational bodies (such as NESA, ACARA and the Australian Curriculum)have provided standards for teachers to grade work against. Sample analytical responses can be found here. They are often useful for students in identifying areas for improvement in their own work.
