Plaque Unveiled for the city's joint 44th Walk of Honour inductees

Presentation Sisters Carmel Wallis and Kaye Bryan are the co-founders and driving force behind ErinEarth, one of Wagga Wagga's most important environmental and community education initiatives.

Ms Thomas, Mrs Gill and our College captains, Ben and Lucy recently attended the Erin Earth Walk of Honour Ceremony. Sister Carmel and Sister Kaye were announced as the joint 2026 Walk of Honour inductees during Wagga Wagga’s Australia Day Awards ceremony in January. During the unveiling ceremony Mayor Cr Dallas Tout described the recipients as "extraordinary community members" whose influence will resonate for many generations to come. The Walk of Honour on Baylis Street was instigated in 1998 to recognise substantial contributors to the community.

Founders Day Mass

This week we joyfully gathered to celebrate the legacy of our founders Nano Nagle of the Presentation Sisters and Edmund Rice of the Christian Brothers. Their vision of faith, compassion, and education continues to inspire all we do.

This year for the first time we were joined by past staff, some traveling a great distance to attend. These members of staff are such an important part of our story. We were grateful to Fr Grace for leading our Mass. We also welcomed our Presentation Sisters - Sr Colleen Maloney, Sr Carmel Wallis, Sr Judith Baz, Sr Kaye Bryan and Sr Barbara Webber, patron of Webber House, whose presence reminded us of the strong foundation we stand on.

With the theme “Great Graces, Great Responsibilities”. With great graces, come great responsibilities. The lantern of Nano Nagle and the vision of Edmund Rice have been passed to us, the students and staff of Mater Dei. Our responsibility is not just to keep these walls standing, but to keep their spirit alive. We are called to be the voice for the voiceless, to stand with the unheard, and to ensure that the dignity of every person is recognised.Their legacy lives on through each of us.

Following Mass, sisters, alumni staff, students, and invited guests joined staff and student leaders for a beautiful morning tea in our staffroom, sharing stories and meaningful conversations together.

Nano Nagle Prize

Gallery Image

This year the Nagle Prize focuses on the idea of: How can I be a light for others in my community? What does it mean to be a carrier of the lantern?

Students are asked to interpret the meaning of this question and create a video, artwork or creative writing piece that interprets the theme. See Mrs Gill for more information. Entries need to be submitted to Mrs Gill by Wednesday, 10 June.
