Community Enviro Expo

On Wednesday June 10 Eltham High hosted the first Community Enviro Expo. This event was the brainchild of Jarran Nolan (Year 11, Skipper House), one of our student leaders.

The intent of the Expo was to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of   indigenous plants in the local environment, especially private gardens. Students from two local primary schools presented wonderful displays describing what they are doing to look after the natural environment at their schools. A number of local environment-focused organizations attended the Expo to explain what they are doing and advertise opportunities for environment-related volunteering.  

The Expo was supported by Edendale Farm and Nillumbik Shire. All Year 7 students attended the event, and the public session was very well attended with nearly 100 visitors. Guest speaker Fiona Cross (Edendale Nursery Horticulturalist) delivered an informative presentation on indigenous plants of the Nillumbik Shire.
