World Cup Fever is hitting IPS!
World Cup fever has certainly hit our school, with excitement building across classrooms and the playground! As a proudly multicultural community, it has been wonderful to see staff and students sharing their passion for different teams, engaging in friendly rivalries, and celebrating their cultural connections to countries around the world. Most importantly, it has been fantastic to see everyone come together in support of Australia, demonstrating our school values of respect, inclusion, and community spirit.
With the next big Australia game coming up, we have decided to host a Green and Gold day on our last day of school.
Let's hope the Socceroos win, ending our term on a high note and an early finish at 2.30pm!
Year 2 History Excursion
This morning, we waved off 82 very excited students and some of their (volunteer) parents as they headed off in full regalia to the Bundoora Farm Heritage Village, as part of their 'Then and Now' History unit. The excursions provides an immersive experience that explores the changes in land use, culture, and technology of Australians over time. Children are guided through the Heritage Village and its buildings, which date back to the early 20th century. These include the Stud Groom’s Cottage, Farrier’s and Blacksmith’s barn and the stables, all of which are classified by the national trust. We look forward to hearing about their experiences on their return.
Many thanks to our parent volunteers for not only giving up their time to support our students but also for getting in the spirt of the whole excursion. Everyone looked amazing this morning as they headed off!
Whole School House Lunch
Our House Captains have organised a whole school House Lunch event on Thursday 25th June at 1pm.
Students are encouraged to bring along their lunch and proudly wear their House colours for the day. The House Captains have organised some exciting activities, some relay races and will lead students from each house in team chants! What a great opportunity to come together in the last week of term to celebrate in our houses.
Year 6 Arcade Games Fundraiser for Camp
Step right up, step right up to have fun and lower the cost of Year 6 camp. Our Arcade Day camp fundraiser will take place on Tuesday the 23rd of June. Families are invited to come along (and spend some money!) to play the arcade games that year 6 students have created as part of their STEM project this year. Having had a crafty peek at some of the arcade games that have been created, I think you'll be amazed at how talented and creative our students are. You'll also have lots of fun!
We'd love to see you there!

2026 Year 6 Camp Fundraiser - 2 spots left!
Dear year 6 families,
We are reaching out for your support as we work together to make our Year 6 Canberra Camp as affordable as possible for all 75 families in our cohort. As you know, camp is a milestone experience that builds independence, connection, and lifelong memories.
To help reduce costs for every family, we will be running a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser on Sunday June 28th, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, and we need your help to make it a success. WE HAVE 2 SPOTS LEFT!
To run the day safely and smoothly, we must fill every volunteer slot across the full eight hours. Even one hour of your time will make a meaningful difference. Every dollar raised directly reduces the cost of camp for your child and their peers. Your contribution genuinely benefits the whole community.
Huge thanks to Pete Munt for taking on the role of BBQ Captain.
Please sign up by clicking the link below and adding your name to a time slot:
Your generosity, time, and community spirit will directly support our students and help ensure that every child can participate in this unforgettable learning experience. Together, we can make this fundraiser a success and lighten the financial load for all families.
Sincerely,
The Year 6 Team
Holiday Program - update
TheirCare would like to provide an update regarding the upcoming Winter Holiday Program at Ivanhoe Primary School.
At this stage, we are still awaiting final approval to operate the program at the service.
As we understand that families may already be planning care arrangements for the holiday period, we would encourage families who require care to proceed with making bookings at Ivanhoe East to ensure care is secured for your child/children.
Please see the link below for more information on this program.
It has been a busy week filled with learning, growth, and community spirit, and we are proud of all that has been achieved. Students have spent this week gathering evidence for their portfolios as teachers put the finishing touches to their reports. You can look forward to reading your child's semester 1 reports when they are published in Compass at the end of next week, wrapping up a positive and successful term.
