This term the wellbeing space has made some changes to make the area feel cozier and inviting for students who are welcome to come in and talk to our wellbeing staff or to have a break when needed.Â

This term we celebrated the International day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDABOBIT). We honoured the day with a BBQ lunch for the whole school, colouring table and sports, as a way for students and staff to get together and ask questions and show their allyship. Thank you to all who came down to show their support and enjoyed the food on offer!

We also celebrated all our amazing education support staff. The principal team organised a morning tea and organised for beautiful plants to be potted for the staff as a special token of appreciation. Thank you to all our wonderful education support staff for showing up to work each day and being our students biggest advocates.Â

National Reconciliation week is celebrated to recognise the rich cultures and shared histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Reconciliation week is held from 27th May to 3rd June to commemorate two historic milestones: the 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision. PLSC acknowledged Reconciliation week on Monday 1st June. We asked all staff and students to wear something YELLOW to come together as a school in celebration of this day. We ran some activities in craft club and hosted a staff morning tea celebration where everyone was asked to bring a plate special to their culture to recognise the diversity of our PLSC community.Â
Every Monday the wellbeing team runs a craft club in the art room during lunch time. This is an opportunity for students who love art to come together and express themselves creatively through bracelet making, painting, and drawing. If you feel your young person would be interested in craft club, ask them to speak with the wellbeing team for more information or come along to see what itâs all about!

A short group intervention was recently run at our school to support students in developing a better understanding of anxiety and use strategies to manage it. The 4 part program explored what anxiety is, the emotions involved, and practical strategies that can be used at school to cope in healthy ways. Thank you to the students who participated and this program will continue to run next term with more groups involved.Â

The wellbeing team would like to ask for expressions of interest from parents who may be interested in attending Tuning Into Teens at PLSC.
