Curriculum

Year 10

Our Year 10 students have been busy engaging in a range of hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world community involvement.

Students recently visited Lalor Community Garden, where they explored the importance of sustainability, community collaboration and environmental responsibility while learning about the role local spaces play in bringing people together.

In the kitchen, students put their practical skills to work during a pancake cooking practical, developing confidence in food preparation, teamwork and following safe kitchen practices while creating some delicious results.

Alongside these experiences, students have also been working hard on a variety of Personal Development Skills (PDS) projects, focusing on planning, problem-solving, communication and building independence through meaningful project-based learning.

It has been fantastic to see our Year 10 students continuing to grow their practical skills while making connections with their community and developing confidence for the future.

Year 11

As we come to the end of a successful and productive Term 2, I would like acknowledge the Y-11 cohort for their perseverance and positive approach to learning. Students have demonstrated excellent commitment to completing assessment tasks and coursework in preparation for report deadlines. 

A highlight of the term was the Leadership Geelong Sailing Camp, where a group of Year 11 students had the opportunity to further develop their leadership skills in a unique and challenging environment. Students embraced the experience, worked collaboratively, built confidence, and most importantly, had a fantastic time on the water.

Year 11 students also enjoyed an educational excursion to Living Legends in Greenvale. During the visit, students learned about the important role this facility plays in providing lifelong care and meaningful engagement opportunities for retired champion racehorses from around the world. The excursion offered valuable insight into how Living Legends honours the achievements of these remarkable horses while supporting them in the next chapter of their lives.

As we head into the school holidays, I would like to thank all Year 11 students for their efforts and contributions throughout the term. I wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable break. 

We look forward to welcoming students back in Term 3, refreshed and ready to begin Semester 2 with enthusiasm and determination.

Year 12

As Semester One draws to a close, our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major (VM) students are currently working towards completing the final assessment requirements for Unit 3. This is an important stage in their learning journey, and students should be commended for their efforts and commitment throughout the semester. Staff continue to support students in meeting assessment deadlines and demonstrating the skills and knowledge required to successfully achieve their outcomes.

As we move into the final weeks of the term, maintaining strong attendance remains a key focus. Students are encouraged to attend all scheduled VCE VM and VET classes and to keep their attendance above the required 80% benchmark. Consistent attendance plays a significant role in academic success, allowing students to remain engaged with classroom learning, complete assessment tasks, and develop the skills needed for future pathways.

We would also like to thank families for their ongoing support throughout the semester. Open communication between home and school is vital, and we encourage parents and carers to continue notifying the school of any absences or circumstances that may impact a student's learning. Early communication allows us to provide appropriate support and ensure students remain on track with their studies.

The upcoming holiday break provides an excellent opportunity for students to rest, recharge, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities that Semester Two will bring. We encourage all students to return refreshed, focused, and ready to apply their best effort as they work towards the successful completion of Year 12 and their VCE VM qualification. 

We wish all students and families a safe and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to a productive Term 3.
