Hello from Performing Arts

Music has been buzzing with activity this term as students across the school have continued developing their instrumental skills. Our junior students have been learning the ukulele, while senior students have been exploring the guitar. Throughout the term, students have focused on how to safely carry and care for their instruments, as well as correct playing posture and technique. They have enjoyed learning simple chords, reading TAB notation, and performing a variety of songs. Our senior students have also begun developing their finger-picking skills, adding another exciting technique to their growing musical toolkit.
Our lunchtime bell band and choir have been popular this year, and it’s been amazing to add rock bands this year under the guidance of Mr Preston. The students are offered opportunities to perform at school events to build their confidence.
Towards the end of the term, students turned their attention to drama, where creativity and teamwork took centre stage. Through a range of engaging drama activities, students worked collaboratively to create their own short plays, developing skills in communication, problem-solving, and performance. It has been wonderful to see students sharing ideas, building confidence, and supporting one another as they prepare and perform their work for their classmates. We look forward to seeing these skills continue to grow throughout the year.
This week, we held our yearly performing arts night. This is an opportunity for students to show their own skills and talents. We had aerobics, stand up comedy, singing, bands and dance items. The students were amazing and so brave to get up in front of 300 people in the audience. Well done to all who performed. Here are a few pics from the night. – Mr Flynn
