Farewell, Mr Terry McDonough
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Mr McDonough – a true Saints man whose connection to the College stretches back to his own days as a student in the 1980s.
For the past 26 years, Mr McDonough has been a dedicated teacher, head of year and mentor, shaping the lives of generations of young men with his trademark care, humour and high standards.
As head of year, Mr McDonough brought a balance of firm guidance and genuine care. He was known for holding boys accountable while also being their greatest supporter, encouraging them to aim high in and out of the classroom. His ability to build strong relationships with students and families alike made him a trusted point of contact, especially during the formative senior years.
Mr McDonough also spent a short time as deputy principal – pastoral. Stepping in at short notice, he carried out this role with distinction, contributing greatly to the smooth and positive operation of the College.
He also spent many years involved in boarding life, supporting the boys while living alongside them and sharing in the unique challenges and rewards of boarding life.
Beyond his pastoral and teaching roles, Mr McDonough’s passion for football has left a lasting legacy. He has coached countless successful teams, including Bill Turner, CISSA and JSS sides, and was the mastermind behind the Saints football program, which has quickly become one of our successful sporting programs.
His last day was today, but his influence will be felt here for many years to come. We thank him for his loyalty, his dedication and his tireless work for the men of Saints, and wish him every success as he takes on new challenges in the business world.
Farewell, Ms Maureen Waldby
This week we farewelled Ms Waldby. She has been our college pianist for almost 20 years, playing at most of our Masses, liturgies and celebrations during this time. We have been blessed to have a skilled, cooperative and dedicated musician as part of our community. We wish Ms Waldby all the best in her retirement.
Farewell, Mr Aaron O'Neill
We farewell Mr O'Neill who joined us at the beginning of the term, and who will conclude his time with us at the end of Week 6.
We thank Mr O'Neill for his time in the Technologies Department, and while only short, he has been very helpful and formed professional relationships with students with ease. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Welcome, Mr Ben Groves
We are delighted to welcome Mr Groves to the St Augustine’s College community as an Industrial Technology and Design (ITD) teacher. He brings a unique blend of experience from the education and electrical industries. He most recently worked at Bentley Park College but was an electrician before that.
His subject specific skills, combined with his strong relationship-building skills, will make him a valuable addition to our staff. We look forward to the impact he will have in inspiring our students. Please make him feel welcome as he settles into life at Saints.
