Swimming

The annual Inter House Swimming Carnival will be held on Tuesday 11th February at the Hamilton Outdoor Pool beginning at 9.30am.  I would be keen to here from any parent, family member or community member who can volunteer their time to help timekeeping for part or all day. Please contact me at the College on 5572 1355 or email lalexander@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au .

Please note that there will be NO KIOSK FACILITY open on the day at the pool so students should have their own food and drink with them for the day. We do have the ROX Coffee Van booked in for the day and Laidlaw and Beryr House will be selling some food and drinks for a Bushfire fundraiser. The College’s best swimmers will go on to  compete at the Glenelg Division (GD) Swimming Sports next Thursday, 20th February at the Portland Outdoor Pool. A reminder that every Year 7-12 student is welcome to attend Swimming training on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 4-5pm at the Hamilton Outdoor Pool and the occasional Thursday mornings at HILAC from 7-8am.

Basketball

The Junior and Senior teams will be released and advertised early next week in readiness for the start of the season in the week commencing Monday 17th February. Students should contact their coach to work out training times and know when their games are on. Game times will also be advertised each week on the TEAM APP and Facebook page. New players will need to purchase basketball uniforms from the uniform shop.

Players who haven’t already will need to register and pay ASAP on the HBA website following the PLAY HQ link and ensure they have done so 48hrs before the first game or they might not be able to play. To register, you will need to first create an account and then follow the steps to complete the registration process. This can be accessed at the links below. Students who are playing both Juniors and Seniors will need to register twice, once as a junior and once as a senior player but first contact the HBA to get a voucher if this is the case to save money. Players required to fill out clearance forms and juniors playing seniors indemnity forms should have these printed off and completed ASAP also.

In 2020 our senior Men’s Division One Coach, Daniel Winnell, will also take on a greater role in the development of all our junior players and coaches. He will be involved with all teams at various stages of the season to work on their skills and knowledge of the game.

If you have any questions or your circumstances with playing or coaching this season have changed, please don’t hesitate to email the relevant person in charge below:

Netball

The Saturday morning season for Term One is still yet to be determined if and when it will be starting due to a shortage of volunteers. Please contact Mrs Ogle ASAP for more information.

Tennis

For the first time ever there will be a weekly GD Tennis competition for Year 7-9 students and it will be hosted at College. Please contact Mrs Katie Winter Cooke for more information. It is great to see we have teams once again entered and playing in a mixed gender and ladies competition mid-week at the Hamilton Lawn Tennis Club. Good luck to all the students involved.

Codes of Behaviour

The school’s sporting Code of Behaviours document that includes our cultural framework/vision for the sporting program has already been distributed to all families and we are asking that all current and perspective players, coaches, managers, administrators and parents involved in the College Sporting program, please read and if new to the sporting programme-  sign and return to myself ASAP and of course adhere to during the year.

Term One Sporting Programme

Please find attached a copy of the current Term 1 Sporting Program Trainings and Competitions document as I know it at this stage. It will be updated when basketball training times are finalised and if there are any other changes and sent out again in the next fortnight.

Cricket

They say that ‘every cloud has a silver lining’ however, for the CCollege Cricket Club (CCC) last weekend, every cloud had a white picket lining. A weekend of washed out cricket, resulted in a win for CCC. For those that have not had the opportunity to drive past the senior campus, last weekend thanks to the incredible effort by CCC volunteers and our very own students who braved the elements, the oval picket fence was constructed. This has been calumniation of months of hard work, organisation and generous donations from many College parents, friends, alumni and current students who have helped make our ground into a premier facility.  A special mention to Lachy Patterson who was integral in communication, fundraising and organising multiple aspects of the upgrade.

Last weeks special mentions

CCC U13 girls finished 6/61. The girl bowling was a little rusty after the holiday break, however special mentions to go Ava Mould, Olivia Rees and Ava Schroeder for excellent bowling and fielding. Our highest scorers were Olivia Read, Olivia Handbury and Sophie Merrin. Bella Dunstan had a fantastic first game, especially considering she came to watch and ended up filling in and played a great game. The girls are continuing to improve their cricket skills and knowledge of the game. A big thanks to Ash Read who continues to assist with umpiring - this is greatly appreciated and allows us to have a game every week.

College Eagles - 6-120, Will Bourke 10no with the bat, and improved bowling performances from Jasper Moore and Will Satchell.

College Blue - Harry McDonald 31no in his first College game, Will Baker 10no, Jack Mann 9no, Jono Stwart 1-9

College Gold Charlie Hawthorne 8no and Dougal White 6no.
