From the Principal

We strive for progress not perfection’ – Year 12, 2020 motto

Optimism remains one of our College’s core values and I feel exceptionally confident that we have minimised all possibilities of an outbreak of Coronavirus amongst the Greater Hamilton community. After nine days, there remains no signs of flu and/or cold like symptoms amongst any of our international students, nor our wider student body.  I commend the tireless efforts of Mr MacLean, Mr Corbidge, Mr Monk, our nurses and staff.  The trials and tribulations faced by many over the past weeks have been significant, yet we remain staunch and optimistic in our determination to stand together.

Next Tuesday 11 February marks the end of the fourteen day isolation period endured by our international students.  We look forward to welcoming them back into the Senior School and our Boarding community after their final daily health check.  Our House Swimming Carnival on Tuesday feels like a perfect way celebrate their return.  On Wednesday 12 February, we will re-unite in class and at last be one inclusive school.

Sadly, one casualty in this process has been our China trip.  Please be advised that the College will not proceed with the Year 9 China Experience this March given the Government travel advice surrounding Coronavirus.  We will explore rescheduling the trip later in 2020 once more information comes to hand.  Year 9 will instead attend their normal classes along with rest of the school for the last week of Term 1 and return at the beginning of Term 2 on Wednesday 15 April.

I thank everyone for your co-operation, understanding, encouragement and support. Should you have any further inquiry, please call me via my assistant Linda Archer on 03 5572 1355.
