Adopt-a-Chicken

The Foundation students are very excited to announce that they just became parents to their very own baby chicks and eggs! As part of our science unit this term students are going to hatch the eggs and care for chicks. They will learn about the needs of living things and life cycles.

On the 28th and 29th July any chicks the Foundation students hatch (approx. 12 chicks) will be available to be picked up for adoption. If you are interested in adopting chicks please read the information below and contact the school office on 0359775421 to make your request.

Adoptees please be aware of these key points:

Ø Although chicks are layer strain, 50% will be hens and 50% will be roosters. Once chicks have been taken from the school, they cannot be returned.

Ø We are unable to tell if chicks are male or female.

Ø Prospective owners are responsible for checking council regulations regarding keeping a backyard flock (councils vary) and for re-homing roosters.

Ø Chicks must go to homes in pairs or more as they are flock birds. This applies to those who already own chickens as well as first time owners.

Ø Take Home Packs will be available and it is recommended that those new to keeping backyard chickens purchase one of these packs.

Ø Chicks are available from day 11 of the program (the day before equipment pick up).

NOTE: Henny Penny Hatching is not able to take chicks back once they leave the school at the end of the program.

More information regarding Adopting Chicks is available on the website, www.hennypennyhatching.com.au

Please read Ethical Issues and Adopting Chicks on the website above before committing yourself to adopting chicks.

Wakakirri LIVE 2022!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have now had our performance date confirmed! We will be performing live at Frankston Arts Centre on Tuesday August 23. The performance starts at 7:15pm. Ticketing information has been emailed out to all participating families.

Our story this year takes us on a journey with Hush and her Grandmother and the guardians of the forest. Hush has been made invisible by Grandma’s magic after a close escape from a snake, and so they must travel through the forest to find the Guardians of the Night Sky, Guardians of the River and Guardians of the Sunrise to ask them to fill Hush’s bucket and make her visible again.

Costumes must be brought in by the end of term, and all taught choreography is available on the Wakakirri Google Classroom.

Thank you for your support, we are very excited!
