Term 3 of Environmental Science

This term our focus across the school is biodiversity - the variety of plants and animals here on earth.

We have committed to improving our biodiversity across the school by looking at ways to plant native flora and protecting local wildlife. You can find out more about this day by visiting the website: https://treeday.planetark.org/get-involved/community

Mushroom growing in Grade 3

Our Grade 3 classes are beginning to research growing mushrooms. Over the next few weeks students will begin growing mushrooms in Enviro class. Students will be exploring recipes to cook the mushrooms they grow and creating a Somerville PS cookbook so you can try the delicious mushroom recipes at home as well.

Mushrooms are super easy to grow, as the Grade 3 students will find out and report back.

Stay tuned for delicious tips and recipes using the versatile fungi.
