VET News 2020

VET programs are very popular for students wishing to secure a future apprenticeship in traditional trades. A reminder that deposits of $200 are now required for Yr  9 -11 students wishing to study a VET program in 2020. Places are limited, so deposits are required asap to secure the student’s place in the class.

 

VET payment schedule is as follows:

20 November - Final Balance owing

 

VET Orientation: 27 November

Students who have paid deposits will receive a letter with details of venue and times for VET orientation. Attendance is compulsory.

 

Western Edge Cluster VET Awards

The annual WEC VET Awards will be held at Tabcorp Park on Tuesday, 19 November (6.45pm – 8pm). Award nominees will receive invitations and RSVPs are required by 8 November.

 

Year 9 Humanities

As part of the World of Work curriculum this term students have participated in 1:1 mock job interviews conducted by members of the Careers Team. This was a great opportunity for students to develop their communications skills. Students also attended a presentation from the Young Workers Centre which informed students of their rights in the workplace.

 

Year 10 Work Experience 27 April (Monday) – 1 May (Friday), 2020

Students have received letters to advise of the work experience program for 2020. Please contact the Careers Room if you are able to assist students with placement opportunities.

 

Scholarships

Melton SC would like to thank the ongoing financial support offered by Western Chances. 8 students have been successful in receiving scholarships. The financial support, totaling $8,200 will assist the students with their education in 2020. The funds can be used to purchase text books, laptops and stationery.
