PE Health Week

28/10 to 1/11

During week four of term four, PE and Health Week was held at MSC. Year 10 Health students across three separate classes teamed up with PE staff to offer a range of lunch time and Starr Connect activities relating to healthy lifestyles. As a result of their involvement, Year 10 Health students were able expand on their understandings of their current topic; health promotion.

Well done to Ms Kershaw’s Year 10 Health class for the creation of the stimulating Starr Connect activities, and Mr Condon’s and Ms Alfieri’s Year 10 Health classes for their conduction of lunch time activities. Thank you to all PE Staff who assisted in one way or another to have an incredibly successful week and a big shout out also goes to Woolworths Coburns Central for their large fruit donation.

Teams had to race through the course in the fastest time possible to come away with first place. Participants excelled on some elements while others were a little trickier than they first appeared. Even a few of the PE staff had a crack at the obstacle course however, they need to work on their bowling skills!

Participants gained insight yoga’s fluent movement sequences which involve both strengthening and stretching exercises.

Thursday – Free Fruit Salad

The team from Ms Alfieri’s Year 10 Health had the huge job of cutting and distributing fruit to both students and staff of MSC on one very hot day. It was incredibly successful with approximately 320 servings of fruit salad distributed on the day as well as a large number of loose fruit provided to students to enjoy. Woolworths Coburns Central donation an exceptional amount of fruit and without them this massive event would not have taken place. MSC is extremely appreciative of the opportunity Woolworths Coburns Central enabled us to provide. Additionally, thank you to Ms Dunstan from administration who assisted with the fruit cutting.

Friday – Staff vs Student Soccer Match

As per usual, the annual rivalry was fierce from the start and the level of skill on show was outstanding. There was a number of shots which both goalies saved. It was clear both sides wanted to settle who the better side was after last year’s draw. Innocent hit the soccer board first for the students before Mr Curro evened it up for the teachers. The student team demonstrated grit to score another goal through Kiir, however, the staff were not letting the game go that easily. There was a number of fast breaks down to the staff scoring end but unfortunately nothing came of it. From here, it wasn’t long before the timer ran out and the match had been decided.

Congratulations to the students on this year’s victory!
