Archaeological Dig.

Do you know what an archaeologist does in their job? Students studying Year Seven History had the opportunity to hear from a team of archaeologists from Heritage Victoria about their occupation. Students moved through several work stations including digging for objects, sieving for objects and washing objects. At the end of the session the students looked for patterns in what they found and tried to guess what had happened at the site in the past.

Many students assisted with digging the two large holes to bury the objects for the students to dig up. The following students not only helped at lunch time, but stayed after school to assist: Timothy Goshe, Bailee Trot, Xander Wojcik, Brodie Prosser, Spencer Jones and Jamo Godden.

Comments from students:

“I learned that artefacts are items from the past”

“You can find out about people from their trash”

“I enjoyed the digging because I got really dirty”
