Our annual House Athletics Carnival was run on Thursday, July 27th, where we were greeted with a sunny Winter’s day. VOLLEYBALL SCHOOLS CUP

From Monday, July 24th to Wednesday, July 26th, we entered our first team in the Volleyball Schools Cup at Dandenong Volleyball Stadium. The event featured a large number of private, independent and public schools throughout Melbourne, which created an exciting atmosphere throughout the stadium. Our team included a mix of Year 9 & 11 students, who had been training hard in the weeks leading up to the event. At the conclusion of our preliminary matches, we had registered 4 wins and 1 loss, which qualified us for the 1st v 2nd playoff against Balwyn High School. With the match being on Wednesday evening, it was fantastic to see the representation of parents, students and teachers supporting the team. The match was an entertaining and high-quality one, that was a tight contest throughout. After losing a tight first set, and being down 5-0 in the second set, we gained momentum and won the second set. The third set was very even, however, unfortunately, we had a narrow defeat 15-12. Across the training sessions and matches, it was pleasing to see the camaraderie and enthusiasm shown among the boys. A special thank you also to Eli Franzke, who used his experience to provide invaluable coaching and guidance for the team.

STATE CROSS COUNTRY

On Thursday, July 13th, we had two students represent the school at the State Cross Country Championships at Yarra Glen - Kenji Calf in the 12/13 Boys event, and Evangelos Panagiotou in the 12 - 14 Boys Multi Class event. Seeing schools from far and wide across Victoria highlighted that this was a state event with the very best performers. So, to have two students participating is a fantastic achievement for each of them. Kenji finished in 48th place out of 100 participants. Evangelos finished in 2nd place out of 15 competitors and has now qualified for the National event next month. We congratulate Kenji and Evangelos on their outstanding results across all cross-country events this year.

Year 7: Netball Regionals

The amazing year 7 Netball made it to Regionals. The team consisted of Lucia, Estelle, Camryn, Eleni, Deni, Deeva, Jag and Tamsyn. After success at Districts, the team trained hard to be prepared for the day.

The opponents were very tough and unfortunately, it wasn’t our day, and the scoreboard didn’t reflect our determined players’ efforts.

Despite this, our team is extremely proud of our efforts in defence and attack.

Special mention to Miss O’Neill, Miss Whitty and everyone who has contributed to training and games.
