Leading Teachers Report

Junior School Report

Dear College community, a warm welcome to Term 3. As always there has been plenty going on in the Junior School. Firstly, I would ask you all to have a conversation with your child and reflect on their achievements for the first semester. Celebrate their successes and discuss goals they want to achieve for semester 2. If you haven’t already accessed the interim reports for this term they are available on Compass.

During this term, we will have all year 7 and 8 students visit Monash Tech School with their science class and partake in engaging hands-on learning. All students have reported back to me how much they have enjoyed their time at the tech school. We have been fortunate enough to have our new gym available for physical education classes and our students are loving their time in there. Much like our new STEM Centre, the competition-size basketball court offers a great space for our students to enjoy.

With our Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences held this week, I hope that you had the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their teachers. If you weren’t able to book an appointment please contact your child’s teacher.

VCE Exam Revisions: Achieving Excellence in Assessment

The VCE exams stand as a testament to your academic journey, representing your dedication and growth throughout your secondary education. Navigating the path to success requires effective revision strategies. Drawing from the invaluable resources provided by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), we present a comprehensive approach:

Structured Study Schedule: Organize your revision sessions using a well-structured study timetable. Allocate sufficient time to each subject, ensuring a balanced approach.

Leverage Past Examinations: The VCAA offers a repository of past exam papers, accessible through https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/assessment/vce-assessment/past-examinations/Pages/index.aspx. Practising with these papers not only familiarizes you with the exam format but also allows you to gauge your progress.

Diverse Learning Resources: While textbooks and class notes are essential, incorporate diverse learning materials. Online resources, revision guides, and supplementary materials can offer different perspectives, enriching your understanding.

Self-Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess your understanding of concepts through self-quizzes and practice questions. Compare your responses with model answers provided in past exam papers to identify areas that need improvement.

Engage with Peers and Teachers: Form study groups with your peers to discuss and explain concepts. Reach out to your teachers for clarification on challenging topics. Their guidance is invaluable during your revision journey.

2. VTAC Applications: Crafting Your Pathway to Higher Education

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) is your conduit to higher education institutions within Victoria. Empowered by insights from VTAC's official application guide https://www.vtac.edu.au/applying, we outline the steps to navigate this crucial phase:

Research and Explore: Begin by researching the wide array of universities and courses on offer. Consider factors such as course content, career opportunities, and campus location to align your preferences.

Stay Informed About Deadlines: VTAC operates on a specific application timeline2. Stay vigilant about key dates to ensure your applications are submitted on time, allowing you to explore all your options.

Collate Essential Documents: Gather all necessary documents, including academic transcripts, personal statements, and letters of recommendation. Ensure these documents showcase your strengths and accomplishments effectively.

The amalgamation of these strategies and resources forms a solid foundation for achieving success in your VCE exams and navigating the VTAC application process. Remember that this is a transformative period that combines diligence with self-discovery, paving the way for your higher education journey.
