Year 7 Leader Report
As we approach the midpoint of the term, the Junior Student Services team is filled with immense pride as we reflect on the journey our Year 7s have embarked upon so far. Our budding learners have engaged in a range of enriching activities, enhancing not just their academic skills but also their personal and social capabilities.
One of the highlights for the Year 7s this term has been their enlightening visits to Monash Tech School for a dive into the world of science. Our students' thirst for knowledge and innovation was evident as they immersed themselves in cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions, setting the tone for a term steeped in academic exploration.
Safety in the digital age is paramount, and who better to shed light on this than the Victoria Police? Their visit to speak about online safety was both timely and impactful, equipping our students with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the digital realm with confidence and caution.
We were also honoured to host an accomplished athlete, Laeticia Scanlan, a veteran of both the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. Their passionate discourse on goal setting, finding one's purpose, and pushing through challenges resonated deeply with our Year 7s. Such conversations are vital in shaping the mindset of our young learners, inspiring them to dream big and work relentlessly towards their aspirations.
And speaking of dreams, the sports arena was buzzing with enthusiasm!
With numerous students participating in House Athletics, Inter-school sports and our Sport Development Program, our Year 7s showcased their dedication, team spirit, and athletic prowess.
On the artistic front, the rehearsals for our school production of 'Seussical Jr.' are in full swing. Come along later in August to support our talented students as they immerse themselves in the whimsical world of Dr Seuss, bringing vibrant characters to life with fervour and finesse! We have several Year 7 students in key roles this year, which is fantastic!
However, it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the challenges some of our Year 7s have faced. Transitioning into a new academic year often means navigating evolving social dynamics and forming new friendships. Such transitions can be daunting, and unsettling, but we are encouraged by the developing resilience and maturity our students are demonstrating in handling discomfort and challenging situations.
As we gear up for the second half of the year, our commitment remains steadfast: to continue to embed our school values of High Expectations, Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Teamwork. Our Year 7s continue to exemplify these qualities every day, and was made evident at our recent assembly by the number of HRRRT point certificates awarded. Well done to all of our Bronze and Silver HRRRT award recipients!
In closing, I'd like to extend my gratitude to our school community for your unwavering support. Together, we shall continue to nurture and guide our Year 7s, ensuring they flourish both academically and personally.
Warm Regards,
Kerryn Hoernel

Interschool Volleyball Competition
What an incredible achievement it is to have reached the finals of the Volleyball Schools Cup. Your dedication, teamwork, and relentless spirit have brought you to this remarkable point in your journey, and that's something to be incredibly proud of.
While the final match might not have ended in the victory you were hoping for, remember that success is not solely defined by the outcome. You demonstrated immense skill, sportsmanship, and perseverance throughout the competition, and that's what truly matters.
Well done to the following year 11 students – Eli Franzke, Jeremy Tsitouridis, Laurence Tsitouridis, Angelos Attalidis, Jon Knight and Daniel Klimek. Term 3 offers fresh opportunities for growth, learning, and new experiences. This is a time to challenge yourselves, explore new unit 2 content, and deepen your understanding of the topics you're passionate about.
Remember, every challenge you face is a chance for personal development and learning.
