GARDENING COMPETITION – RESULTS 

Thanks to students who entered the Yr 7 Gardening Competition.  We hope you are all enjoying your plant and have the opportunity to harvest over the coming weeks.

First  - Devin Bettenay

Devin shows the pathway from paddock to plate! She uses crushed eggshells to deter pests like snails and slugs, thus minimising her need for any pesticides.

Harvesting, ensuring lettuce is clean and spun dry and use of the lettuce in a delicious salad.

Second - Beau Smith

Beau Style! 

He has used a decorative pot to grow the lettuce and has aesthetically styled his entry using other edibles, using the decorative feature lettuce being the star of the entry.

Third - Dakota Edmonds

Dakota has shown hardy edibles – Silverbeet/Spinach. 

She has illustrated how these hardy edibles can grow just about anywhere there’s a spot  with lush foliage, which can be picked from outside leaves.

Fourth - Nick Hall

Nick has shown the versatility of herbs. 

Herbs are so versatile and can lift pretty much any recipe. He has shown how he’s used just a few leaves in the dish.  Definitely no need to  purchase plastic sleeves of herbs and no wastage – just cut what you need, leaving the rest to continue to grow, for next time.
