FIRST LEGO® League Team Wins Core Values Award

On Sunday, our team of seven Year 7-10 students competed against other South Australian schools in the FIRST LEGO® League Competition at Scotch College.

Teams design, build, and program a LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robot, then compete on a themed table-top playing field. We are very proud to announce that the Emmaus team won the Core Values Award!

Our team displayed excellence in demonstrating the FIRST Lego League's Core values:

  • Discovery: We explore new skills and ideas.
  • Innovation: We use creativity and persistence to solve problems.
  • Impact:  We apply what we learn to improve our world.
  • Inclusion: We respect each other and embrace our differences.
  • Teamwork: We are stronger when we work together.
  • Fun: We enjoy and celebrate what we do!

Congratulations to Nick (Year 8), Caleb (Year 8), Joseph (Year 10), Isaac (Year 9), Matthew (Year 8), Hudson (Year 8) and Jessica (Year 7) for this achievement, including for the 16 weeks of lunch time and after school preparation to achieve such a high standard!

A huge thank you to Mrs Mel Zybek, Mrs Nicole Hussey and Mr David Chu for facilitating and coordinating this opportunity for our students.

We wish them all the best as they travel to Melbourne this weekend to compete in the National Finals. Thanks in advance to Mr Michael Worley and Mr Paul Van Wezel for accompanying our team and to Mrs Paige Edwards for ensuring all the logistics were in place!

THINK Challenge

Twenty-one Year 8 and Year 9 students participated in the academic all-day THINK  Challenge at Temple College Paralowie on Thursday 24 November, competing against other Christian Association Schools across the state.

Students worked collaboratively in two teams, to answer questions on Science, English, Maths, Engineering, Art and Poetry, History and Politics, Business Innovation, and General Knowledge. All our students were focused and our team spirit was infectious.

Two of our members, Ben and Alex assisted and were heartily welcomed by the Cedar College team, and the Cedar team received 1st place in the English Category.

We are extremely proud of our student comradery and their excellent results.

Our Emmaus teams won 🥇first place in: History and Politics, Engineering, Mathematics and Business Innovation. They came second place in Science.

One of our Emmaus teams came 🥇FIRST overall for the day and excelled in the team spirit of fitting 27 students inside an A4 piece of paper that was strategically cut to make a continuous paper strip.
