Brooklyn Park: Foundation Scientists at Work

Eunice Sweet and Gillian Giles, Foundation Teachers, Brooklyn Park

This term as part of our Science unit, Foundation students from Brooklyn Park have been learning and investigating how objects move.

We started Term 4 with a visit from Alan the Toyman who shared his collection of toys from the past with us. As the students played with these toys, Alan encouraged them to think about how the parts of the toys were moving and which forces (push/pull) were at work.

We have also been observing how objects around us move and thinking about why some objects move faster and some move slower. During Show and Tell the students brought an item with moving parts to share with the class.

To celebrate what we have learned, we had fun designing and creating a vehicle with two moving parts while discovering the importance of teamwork!
