From The Principals

Important updates from Mrs Mann, Mrs Cook & Mrs Strachan

Hello Vermont families! We hope that you all enjoyed the extra long weekend from our student free day and Kings Birthday celebrations. It's a nice way to head into the last week of term, and although this has only been a 9-week long one, it certainly feels like the end of term! With what has been a huge term of camps, excursions, sports and special events, we are once again reminded of how fortunate the students of VPS are to be able to involve themselves in so many wonderful opportunities for growth.

We remind all families that Term 2 ends next Friday, with a 2:30pm finish.

Soirees

The last two nights you may have seen a lot of cars at school. We have been so excited to to hold two Soirees at Vermont Primary School.  The first night was the Senior Soiree where a collection of very talented Year 5 and 6 students performed to a large audience. In addition, we had the School Orchestra, the Rock Band and the Senior Choir perform.

The second night was the Middle Soiree predominantly for the Year 3 and 4 students. This was another night where great talent was on display. We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Mr Travis Fraser for all of his organisation on and leading up to the two nights. Well done to our two Music Captains Isabelle and Nathan for their excellent efforts too.

23rd June 2023: Report Information

The teachers have been very busy collating assessments, and writing the students' Semester One school reports. They go live on Friday the 23rd of June. On this day we will send you a notification to let you know when you can view them on SENTRAL.

Last week of term

The last week of term is action packed for the children and teachers. The Year 3s have a Travel Expo on the 21st of June. Refer to the details on their page.

On Friday the 23rd, we have the PyjamaFlix Day. This is a special initiative from the Student Council representatives. Please refer to the relevant newsletter for your children for more details, and don’t forget to talk to your child about this so they come to school wearing their pyjamas, with a pillow or cuddly toy. Thank you to the Student Council Representatives, Miss Strachan, Mrs Fuller, Mrs Battle and Mrs Lumley for organising this special day.

School review

Last week we completed our school review process. This was a great opportunity to reflect on the positive things that are happening in our school, and think about ways we can build on them in the future. There will be information from the review available to the school community in the coming months.

A massive thank you to all the staff, students and parents who were involved in this lengthy process.

Channel 10 filming at school

Last week, 10 lucky students from Years 1, 2 and 3 had the opportunity to chat with a crew from The Project. These budding superstars spoke with Sam Thornton, one of the presenters from the Channel 10 show about their opinions on 'parties'. These amazing students provided some interesting and humorous responses during their interviews, and we are so excited to see the finished product. The latest information is that it will air on Tuesday 20th of June, but this could change. Keep your eyes open for some Vermont legends on your TV screens soon!

This will be the last newsletter for Term 2, so we wish you all a wonderful winter break, and look forward to seeing you all back for the start of Term 3 on July 10th!

Take care,

Jess, Joy & Jacci
