Year 5 and 6

Welcome to our final instalment of the Year 5 and 6 Newsletter for Term 2! We have had so many events in such a short amount of time and we hope that our Year 5 and 6 students have enjoyed another term of memory-making.

Free to Be Me

Ten Year 6 students met this week for the inaugural Free to Be Me training day. The Free to Be Me Leader Project is a student-led project that develops students’ understandings of gender, gender stereotypes and their potentially harmful effects, diversity and gender equality across the spaces of the school environment in which they learn and play. These students will be guided through the process of designing, implementing and evaluating an action plan to make Vermont Primary School even more inclusive for all students, regardless of their gender, race, sexuality or ability. Free to Be Me aims to create an environment where children can be free to be whoever they are, without the restriction of any stereotypes. Thank you to Mrs McConachy for organising this.

PyjamaFlix Day

The Vermont Primary School Student Council Representatives have organised a special initiative to foster a sense of connection among students (as well as teachers!) on the last day of Term 2, Friday, 23rd June. 

Introducing 'PyjamaFlix Day'! We invite all students to join us next Friday, dressed in their cosy pyjamas and accompanied by their favourite cuddly toy or pillow. To make this day even more enjoyable, we conducted a survey earlier this week to determine which movie the students would like to watch. Following the morning recess, students will be heading to a designated 'cinema' where they can enjoy the G-rated movie of their choice. We encourage students to pack a 'party lunch' to go along with the theme of the day.

For further details, please refer to the attached PyjamaFlix Day flier. Also, kindly remind your child to wear appropriate footwear for school, in addition to their pyjamas. 😊 

We are looking forward to an exciting day filled with pyjamas and movies, promoting a sense of togetherness among our school community!

Winter Sport

As you are aware, our first day of Winter Sport had to be postponed. Our new Day 1 of Winter Sport will take place next Thursday, 22nd June. Thank you very much to those who have made the payment and given permission via QKR! for their child to attend. If you have not done so yet, this needs to be completed as soon as possible, or your child will not be able to attend, which then affects team selection.

We are looking forward to an excellent day of fun and sportsmanship, and we will be doing it all over again in the second week of Term 3! Thank you, Mr Walsh, for all your efforts in making this possible for our students.
