PyjamaFlix Day

On the last day of school we are having an exciting new event to finish off the term. We would like to invite all students to come along to school in their pyjamas and to bring something to cuddle (toy/pillow/blanket). From 11:10am, students will be heading off to a ‘cinema’ of their choice to watch a movie!! As this is our final day of school, students will also have a 2:30pm finish.

School Swimming Program

A great big thank you to all parents and guardians who helped out by volunteering during our school swimming week and having students organised and ready to swim at the beginning of each day. The Year One and Two teachers really appreciate the help to keep our swimming program running as smoothly as possible! The students had a blast and learnt many important water safety skills.

Year One Inquiry - Celebrations

Throughout the term, the Year One students have been 'travelling' to different countries around the world. They have loved learning about the different foods, festivities and traditions of places other than Australia. Check out these awesome Leaning Tower of Pisa crafts that the students made this week!

Year Two Mont De Lancey Excursion

We have been busy in the Junior School this week with the Year Two students attending Mont De Lancey on an excursion. The children had a wonderful time looking through the old homestead, church and meeting a Blacksmith and Woodturner. A highlight for the students was a lesson in the olden days school with the strict teacher Ma’am and the crazy driving seen on the billy carts!! Here are some photos of our fun filled day.

NAIDOC WEEK

NAIDOC originally started as a protest on Australia Day. It was known as the Day Of Mourning. From 1940 the Day Of Mourning was held as an annual event, held on the Sunday before Australia Day and its name was changed to Aboriginies Day. In 1955, Aboriginies Day was moved to the first Sunday in July and became a week to celebrate Aboriginal culture rather than a day of protest. Each year a theme is chosen for NAIDOC Week to reflect the issues or events for these people. This year the theme is ‘For Our Elders.’

In the coming days, there are many opportunities provided for our students to celebrate NAIDOC Week (which falls on the first week of the school holidays). These include reading First Nation books, enjoying our natural surroundings and making craft. If you would like to enter a colouring in competition, there is one to join for NAIDOC Week!! Send your entries to the address on the form, good luck!

Thank you,

The Level Two Team
