Round 3 of the Victorian Human Powered Vehicle Series was held Saturday August 3rd over at Casey Fields. It was a 12 hour race and all our teams put in an awesome effort despite the very long and tough day with the conditions being raining, cloudy and cold - they don’t get much worse than that! Our parents were superstars as always, and supported the team in all areas.

Due to construction work going on at Casey Fields and the rain there were shards of glass and metal all over the track, so we went through a whopping 30 plus punctures (roughly works out to one flat every 20-30ish minutes)!!!

Results….

Dinky Dots won the Senior Female category, beating their rivals Pegasus by 3 laps. The final few hours were incredibly intense with both teams gaining an advantage then slowly losing it but the girls pulled through with a well deserved win.

Our Middle Female team Luna Chicks came so close to a win, we were literally holding our breath on the final lap as they finished on even laps! Unfortunately they were beaten by 6 seconds - we are all so proud of our girls, you’re winners in our eyes!

We had our Unicorn Hunters and Track Burners racing in the tough category of open who came out with 6th place and 15th place in that category respectively - amazing work from those teams despite punctures and issues with the steering arms.

We also had a Middle Mixed team made of year 7 and 8 girls and boys who rode well and ended up with 5th in their category of potentially teams full of year 9s! Special mention to Erik in year 7 who did a huge hour and 45 mins straight in the vehicle to help give his team mates chance to rest and recover.

Super proud of our 5 teams after this race. Time to train hard and talk tactics — the countdown is on for the next race in October!!
