PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents and members of the Mount Eliza Secondary College community
As we approach our assessment for Authorisation as an International Baccalaureate World School, I thought it might be useful for families to gain a better understanding of the approach, and why we have taken this on at Mount Eliza Secondary College.
In short, all decisions made at this school have the students and their current and future needs front and centre. Our approach over the last six years has been twofold:
- To work towards developing classroom programs that are consistent across year levels, reflect best practice about teaching and learning, and support every student to achieve learning growth to meet their potential
- To ensure that whilst students can achieve academic excellence, that they are also developing the personal and social skills that will make them ‘life ready’ as successful employees and citizens.
Undertaking the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program recognises the work we have been doing, and adds an international standard, which our teachers must meet. This level of challenge and professionalism for our teachers is a most significant point of difference for Mount Eliza Secondary College. Our teachers are committed to continuous growth as educational practitioners, and all they do is focused on better meeting the needs of our students. This is a huge expectation and is the reason why I am so very proud of the staff at this college.
Our assessment is coming up later in the term, and we look forward to receiving this prestigious accreditation. We will be one of only four schools in Victoria across both the private and public sectors, authorised to deliver this international level education for our students.
