Year 7 Girls Cricket State Championships

The Year 7 girls cricket team travelled to Melbourne on Tuesday 27th November to battle for the State Championship title. Lissy Down, Marnie Owen, Sophie Ahmet, Amarlee Zito, Maddyn Yenco, Eloise Walker, Tamsyn Hutchins, Mia Earl, Ashleigh Moore and Lucinda Garner all supported and encouraged each other to bring home the flag. The girls played three preliminary matches, winning all three to finish second on the overall ladder:

Game 1 vs Bendigo South (110-54)

Game 2 vs Melbourne Girls College (115-79)

Game 3 vs Matthew Flingers College (163-64)

Finishing second put the girls into the state final against Bairnsdale Secondary College. After a nervous toss, the girls chose to field first and chase their score to win the game.

Final score: Bairnsdale 107 Wanganui 133

The teamwork, encouragement and positivity shown by all girls throughout the day was incredible and they should all be very proud of their achievements. Well done girls!
