In closing out Term 1, I take this opportunity to wish our 1st XI every success as they travel to Queensland over the break. They are joined, for the first time, by our Junior School footballers.
We also wish our U15 & 16 rugby team all the very best of luck with their tour to Fiji, along with our Prep As rugby players who play in the Armidale Tournament.
In addition, we have students participating in training camps throughout the holidays in both rugby and football, and I thank everyone involved for their support.
As we move into Term 2 and the start of the winter sports season, please ensure that your sons have the correct uniform and equipment for their respective activities.
l take this opportunity to extend my thanks in anticipation to the winter season coaches and convenors, along with our performing arts and cultural activities convenors, directors and coaches. These are listed below for your information.
Have a lovely Easter and a very restful break. I look forward to seeing you all during Term 2.

Run2Cure Fun Run
On Sunday, Pius students took part in the Run2Cure 5km Fun Run, enjoying perfect weather conditions for the event.
There were some outstanding performances across multiple age groups.
Congratulations to all students who participated and represented the school so well. A special mention goes to staff members Mr Daniel Quilty, Ms Riley Gilbert and Ethan Li (coach) for their involvement and great efforts on the day. We also extend our sincere thanks to the families who came out to support and cheer on the runners - your encouragement made a real difference.

Football
Well done to all teams over the weekend. A reminder, training recommences on Wednesday 22 April. There are no games on the ANZAC long weekend. It is important to note that all players must attend two trainings per week and their Saturday games. When games commence students must be in full playing strip or wearing the College Polo. No other uniform is acceptable.
A big thank you to Matt Zanello and his SPX Football Supporters' Club for hosting a great season launch last Sunday. Our College 1st XI were presented with their jerseys by current Sydney FC A League stars Corey Holman and Zac De Jesus. We wish the 1st XI well in the holidays as they compete in the Sydney FC Cup and as they Tour Queensland playing in the EREA National Tournament.
Mr Simon Yue - Senior Football Convenor

To all those that made yesterday such a great day, thank you so much to you and your boys for coming along. It was great to see them having a kick around, eating to their heart's content and for all of us to have the chance to catch up and to watch the jersey presentation to the First XI squad.
Once again, a big thank you to all staff and volunteers that gave their time to make it such a fun day.
PLEASE NOTE: if you have friends at SPX that would also like to receive succinct email updates throughout the football season, please forward this link to them so that they can opt in and we will be in touch -

Rugby
A Proud Tradition Continues: A Strong Start for the 1st XV
The Ross Fagan Shield Match, first contested in the early 1950s, remains a cornerstone of our rugby tradition. It was great to see this legacy upheld once again on Saturday, with a fiercely competitive game that showcased the spirit and passion of schoolboy rugby.
Congratulations to our 1st XV on an outstanding performance, securing a commanding 40–7 victory for the third year in a row. This result marks an excellent start to the season and reflects the hard work and dedication shown by both players and coaching staff in the pre-season.
We look forward to building on this momentum, ready for the ISA season ahead. Well done to all involved!

The annual Tennis Championships was held at the Oxford Falls Tennis Centre on Saturday 28 March.
The first session was for the Year 7 and 8s.
After the pool games concluded, 8 students were selected for the quarter finals before Noah Menezes and Connor Huynh emerged as the two finalists. Connor eventually defeated Noah, to claim the title of the Junior Boys Champion.
In the afternoon it was the seniors' turn. The tennis was great quality, and after the pool matches concluded, 8 were left for the quarter finals. Eventually it came down to Adrian Yip and Jake Yu, with Adrian claiming the title of SPX Tennis Champion for 2026.
